GENERAL BOOK
Q: What is an ISBN?
A:  ISBN is an abbreviation for International Standard Book Number. Each ISBN is a unique identifier for a book or other book-like product that specifies its title, format, edition, and publisher.

Q: Where is the ISBN located on my book?
A: ISBNs are typically located on the back of each book near the barcode and inside each book on the copyright page.

Q: What does an ISBN look like?
A:  ISBNs are typically 13 digit (Ex. 9780357499764) or 10 digit (Ex. 035749976X) numbers. ISBNs are sometimes displayed with sections separated by hyphens (Ex. 978-03574-9976-4).

Q: Are there new and used prices for every course material?
A:  The majority of course materials are available as new, used, and rental. There are some course materials such as access codes and workbooks that do not have a used option since they cannot be reused.

Q: How do I access my Cengage Unlimited access code?
A: Please follow the Steps below:

1. Purchase Cengage product at the bookstore and receive a VitalSource access code (20-digit alphanumeric) and redemption URL printed on the receipt or via an email
2. Navigate to online.vitalsource.com and create a VitalSource Bookshelf account if you do not have one already
3. Click “Redeem Codes”
4. Enter the VitalSource access code and click Redeem
5. Once the Cengage product presents on the bookshelf, click “Reveal Access Code”
6. Click “Continue” and then “Reveal Access Code” on popup
7. Copy the new Cengage Access Code that has just been revealed (different from the VitalSource access code) and click “Visit Website” to navigate to Cengage.com
8. Access via standard Cengage procedures

ORDERING COURSE MATERIALS
Q: How do I order my course materials?
A: Please click the textbooks tab or CLICK HERE to find your required course materials for each of your courses. You can quickly Lookup by Student ID or Lookup by Course.

 

Q: Do I need to purchase ALL of the course materials listed for my courses?
A:  Course materials listed as:

-Required or Choice have been submitted by your instructor as a requirement to pass your course.
-Instructor Recommended aren't required but have been submitted by your instructor as an additional resource to help you pass their course.
-Optional have been listed by the GNTC Bookstore as an alternative or component of the Required course materials like an access code.

TEXTBOOK RENTALS
Q: What is a textbook rental?
A: All you do is a pay a portion of the purchase price and return it back at the end of the semester.

Q: How long do I get to keep a rental?
A: The rental isn’t due back until the end of the semester. For all Fall terms, rentals are due on or before December 11th, 2020.

Q: I like to buy my books instead of renting because I may need them.  Why should I rent?
A: The GNTC Bookstore has a No-Risk Rental Program meaning the full rental price paid can be applied to the purchase price at the end of the semester if you want to keep your book. For example, if the rental price is $25 and the purchase price is $75, you would pay $50 to keep the book at the end of the semester. 

Q: Can I rent books or packages with an access code in them?
A: Yes, the rental price includes the purchase of the access code, and the book will need to be returned at the end of the semester.

Q: Can I write or highlight in my rental?
A: Yes, normal use of writing/highlighting in the book is allowed. Excessive highlighting or writing can result in the rental being deemed damaged (See question below).

Q: What if I lost or damaged my rentals?
A: You only have to pay the difference in how much was paid for the rental minus the purchase price.

Q: How do I return my rental?
A: It’s easy. The GNTC Bookstore does not require a receipt. All you have to do is return your rentals back at the end of the semester to the GNTC Bookstore - Floyd County Campus or mail them back to the GNTC Bookstore - Floyd County Campus (please make sure your contact information is located in the package).

Q: What if I don’t return my rental?
A: The GNTC Bookstore will charge the debit/credit card that is on file the difference in how much was paid for the rental minus the purchase price plus a $5/rental late fee.

Q: Why do I need to hold a debit/credit card on file for a rental?
A: The GNTC Bookstore requires a debit/credit card to be held on file in case the rental is not returned.

Q. What if I need to extend my rental?
A. Please contact the GNTC Bookstore. All you have to pay is the rental fee for the upcoming rental period.

Q. What if I want to keep my book?
A. Please contact the GNTC Bookstore to let us know that you want to keep the book. The GNTC Bookstore has a No-Risk Rental Program meaning the full rental price paid will be applied to the purchase price if you want to keep your book. SELL COURSE MATERIALS
Q: Do you purchase course materials?
A: Yes, the GNTC Bookstore pays cash for course materials every day at the Floyd Campus. All you need to bring into the store is your ID and the course materials, and the GNTC Bookstore staff will let you know if your course materials can be purchased.

Q: What kind of course materials do you purchase?
A: The GNTC Bookstore purchases all types of course materials: books (hardback, paperback, loose-leaf/binder, novels, trade, etc.), calculators, clickers, and much more. Please bring in your course materials, and the GNTC Bookstore will let you know if your course materials can be purchased.

Q: How do I get paid for my course materials?
A: GNTC Bookstore staff will tell you the amount and will pay you cash for your course materials.

Q: What payment methods does the GNTC Bookstore accept?
A: The GNTC Bookstore accepts the following:

Q: Can I have my textbooks billed to my student account?
A: Yes, you can charge textbooks to your student account if you have Pell or other financial aid funds available.

Q: When is Pell and other Financial Aid payment methods available in-store and online?
A: Pell and other Financial Aid payment methods are available in-store and online from August 10th-August 28th.

Q: Can I purchase other items than course materials with Pell?
A: Yes, you can purchase any item on the GNTC Bookstore website with available Pell funds from August 10th-August 28th.

Q: After placing an order I received an order confirmation, does that mean my payment method has been charged?
A:  No, the order confirmation email is only to confirm your and payment method information has been received. Once you order is fulfilled, your payment method on file will be charged, and you will receive a second email confirming your order has shipped or is ready-to-pickup.

Q: Why do I need to hold a debit/credit card on file for a rental?
A: The GNTC Bookstore requires a debit/credit card to be held on file in case the rental is not returned.

Q: After I enter my credit card information, the website says "Billing system error." How do I fix this?
A: Please verify the credit/debit card number is correct. If it's incorrect, please re-enter you card number. If the card number is correct, please verify that the billing address is the address on file with your bank/financial institution. If it's incorrect, please re-enter the correct billing address.

IN-STORE PICKUP/SHIPPING
Q: How much does it cost to pickup my order in-store or shipped?
A: In-store pickup is always FREE. Shipping is FREE for orders over $100, and $7.99 for orders under $100.

Q: Where can I pick up my online order?
A: The GNTC Bookstore - Floyd County Campus is open in-store to the public.

Q: How long does it take to get my order if I ship my books?
A: With Priority Shipping, orders will typically be delivered in 1-3 business days.

Q: Does the GNTC Bookstore ship to international addresses?
A: No, the GNTC Bookstore doesn’t ship internationally.

ORDER PROCESSING
Q: How long does it take to process my order?
A: During business hours, online orders are processed throughout each day. Please check your email or CLICK HERE to see the current status of your order.

ONLINE RETAILERS
Q: Why is it risky to order my course materials from online retailers?
A: There are multiple reasons:

1. Online retailers might ship the incorrect edition specified by your instructor.
2. There can be shipment delays that can cause you to fall behind in your courses.
3. Some online retailers charge the full purchase price to buy out a textbook rental that you want to keep, lost, or damaged while other companies (The GNTC Bookstore) allow you to apply the rental price as a credit toward the purchase.
4. The majority of textbook rental sites display textbook rentals for packages/bundles that are missing required components like access codes that result in you spending more money to purchase the missing component(s).
5. Exchanges/returns can be a hassle.

A: We're open 24/7/365 online at GNTCBooks.com.

Q: What are your store hours?
A: At the beginning and end of each semester, the GNTC Bookstore will be open extended hours. Please CLICK HERE for store hours.

RETURN/REFUND POLICY
Textbooks, packages, & access codes:
These items may be returned within 7 days from the first day of each term. Shrink wrapped texts and packages are non-refundable for full value once the shrink wrap is broken or removed. Access codes cannot be returned once any seals have been broken, scratched off, or shrink wrap removed. Any new books returned out of their original packaging or no longer in 'new' condition will be refunded at a used book value (subject to manager approval).

Merchandise and gifts: These items may be refunded within 10 days or exchanged within 30 days of the original purchase date. All items must be in original/unopened packaging with the tags still attached.

Computer & software: These items must be unopened and returned within 10 days of the original purchase date for a refund. All opened computers and software are non-returnable.

eBooks: These items must be returned with 10 days from the original purchase date. Cengage Unlimited and Courseware are NON-REFUNDABLE once the access code has been redeemed.

Shipping: Any shipping charges are non-refundable.

Manikin heads: These items must be unopened, in new condition, and returned by the end of the term for a refund.
